A scheme which makes sure isolated people in Swindon get to enjoy a birthday cake has restarted after a two-year gap.
Swindon Borough Council's Forget Me Not Cakes initiative was launched in 2018 and resumed in February after Covid-19 restrictions put it on hold.
Now South Swindon MP Sir Robert Buckland is appealing for volunteers to bake cakes for the scheme.
"Giving a birthday cake to someone who is lonely, or in need of some extra support may seem inconsequential, but in reality it's a magnificent gift that touches the heart of the recipient," he said.
Sir Robert shared the impact of the scheme on a resident called Mary, who had a cake baked by voluteer Anne.
"Mary loved her cake," he added.
"She said she has never ever had anything so nice given to her before and would make sure she'd eat every crumb.
"She added that she wouldn't be able to sleep that night with the excitement of getting the cake, going as far as to say that she'd get up in the night to check it!"
If you'd like to bake for Forget Me Not Cakes, or know anyone who would, email volunteer@swindon.gov.uk or call 01793 465513.
