A Swindon road has been named a top ten most expensive 'royal roads' in the South West.

A new study by property giants, Savills, ahead of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations, puts Queen's Road in Swindon in the top ten of most expensive addresses with royal connections in the South West.

The average sale of a house along this street was £406,918, taking the tenth spot on the list.

Other top-ranking royal streets are located in Bristol, Bath, Cheltenham, South Hams, Bournemouth and Taunton.

However, the most seem to be in Bath, with three entries making the top 10 list.

These streets are Queen Square which takes first place, Royal Crescent in third place and Queens Parade in eighth place.

Not only is Queen Square the highest value royal address in the South West, with the average price of an address being £871,660, but is the eighth highest nationally, outside of London, and the only south west address to feature in the top 15.

Savills analysis of regal sounding street, road and avenue addresses across the country found that those which include the word 'Royal' demand the highest price tag - £425,345- followed by those which include the word 'Queen' at £350,288 and ‘Tudor’ at £347,687.

Stephanie Thomson, research analyst at Savills said: "Our analysis shows that a home on a royal-related street could be a wise investment for buyers, with the top ten south west addresses that include words of royal significance demanding an average premium of 105 per cent – more than double the average for their local area."

A different study made by property platform Boomin showed that some Platinum Jubilee road names will set you back as much as £2m for a property.

Michael Bruce, CEO and Founder of Boomin, commented about this fact and said: "The Royal Family is a cornerstone of British culture and they’re woven into the fabric of our nation, influencing the names of everything from transport links, schools, corporate buildings and even our residential road names.

"In fact, there are an abundance of residential royal road names the length and breadth of the nation, some of which are home to a far more affordable price tag than their regal titles might imply.

"So for those currently looking to climb the property ladder, what better way to honour our Queen and her 70 years of outstanding leadership than by snagging yourself your own little bit of bricks and mortar on a royal named road."
