Great Western Hospital is doing its bit to help those who are supporting others.

National Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face, and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the country.

Staff at the hospital have been doing their bit by putting a stall in the atrium with information on what support is out there.

A statement released by the hospital trust said: "Thank you to Tanya Hawker from Swindon Carers Centre, who is with Tania Currie, Head of Patient Experience and Engagement, at our stand in Great Western Hospital, to share more information about the support that is available to carers."

GWH works with two charities, Swindon Carers and Wiltshire Carers, to ensure that carers visiting the hospital are supported.

Carers can get a 'carers passport' which provides access to a range of benefits including free drinks, discounted parking and food.

Every Wednesday from 2pm to 3.30pm the hospital holds a 'carer cafe' at the Refresh Restaurant. Everyone is welcome to join and there are volunteers available to offer information or support which will help.
