Petrol prices have jumped in recent weeks as the cost-of-living crisis begins to get worse for consumers.

Russia’s war with Ukraine has exasperated the problem with many families going into fuel poverty.

Back in March, Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced that he would be cutting the fuel duty rate by five pence for the next 12 months.

However, many petrol stations have been accused of not passing down the tax cut to motorists.

They have also been accused of profiting from the situation.

According to the RAC, the average petrol and diesel prices are 187.51 and 194.17.

There is mixed news on the price forecast, the RAC say that the price of petrol is not forecast to rise. However, the price of diesel is still likely to increase.

Currently, the cheapest place to buy fuel overall in Swindon is the Sainsbury’s in Bridgemead on Paddington Drive.

Petrol is currently being charged at 181.9p a litre, whereas diesel is being sold for 190.9p per litre.

The same price is currently on offer for petrol and diesel down at the Sainsbury’s in Stratton.

Asda in West Swindon, is the second cheapest place where motorists can buy fuel.

Petrol is being sold at 182.7p with diesel being on offer for 191.9p.

The Asda on Thamesdown Drive is currently selling petrol for the same price as the one in West Swindon. However diesel is slightly more expensive as it is being sold for 192.9p a litre.

Tesco’s on Ocotal Way is another place where fuel is being sold more cheaply. Prices for a litre of petrol are 184.9p, whereas diesel is being offered for 193.9p a litre.

Finally, the Shell garage on Shaw Road is another service station where fuel is less expensive
