PUPILS at Kingsdown School have been experiencing a taste of Indian culture with a week of Bollywood dancing and Indian cooking.
The week of events was part of a month-long project on India and its culture.
The youngsters aged 11 and 12 enjoyed playing tabla drums, creating Rangoli art as well as cooking up an array of Indian dishes and delicacies.
The project saw increased links between Kingsdown and Churchfields school with girls from Churchfields travelling to Kingsdown to teach Bollywood dancing.
The school was transformed at lunchtimes with a huge Indian banquet followed by a screening of the comedy Bend it Like Beckham.
Youngsters decorated the tables with laser-cut elephants made in design classes and youngsters had their hands decorated with henna body art.
Extended schools and community co-ordinator Lesley Bayliss said: "The year sevens have been experiencing some very exciting after school classes.
"We wanted to create an interactive, fun environment that would give a glimpse into such an exciting country."
