Motorists are set to receive a boost in the next few weeks as the cost of fuel starts to drop.

Back in June, the average price of petrol and diesel was over £2 a litre which was a new record.

However the cost of fuel has dropped in recent weeks, much to the relief of car owners right across the UK.

According to the RAC, the average cost of petrol is 187.19 pence per litre and for diesel 195.99 pence per litre.

The RAC also says the cost of fuel will continue to drop, with motorists possibly saving as much as £10 when brimming a vehicle with fuel.

Swindon Advertiser:

Currently, the cheapest place to buy fuel overall in Swindon is the BP garage in Cricklade Road, Penhill.

Petrol is currently being sold at 183.9p a litre, whereas diesel is being sold for 196.9p per litre.

The BP garage in Bridgemead is also charging the same amount for diesel, but petrol is slightly more expensive at 184.9p a litre.

Esso fuel station on Fleming Way is another garage where prices have come down.

Petrol is currently sold at 185.9 pence per litre, however, the fuel station is selling diesel at the same rate as the two garages listed above.

Elsewhere the Texaco fuel station in Kingshill is another place where motorists can fill up cheaply.

The garage is selling fuel for the same price as the Texaco station, however, it is selling diesel at a cheaper rate at 195.9 pence a litre.

Finally, the Tesco on Ocotal Way is offering fuel at a cheap rate.

Just like most of the fuel stations listed, it is selling petrol at 185.9p a litre and 196.9p for a litre of diesel.
