Many people claim to have eclectic taste when it comes to music. This album meanders cheerfully through all the genres, cultures and wide open spaces that go by the name of music.
Peter is a local businessman who has turned his hand to music, but he is no novice, being strongly influenced by his cousin, blues singer Dana Gillespie. She sings a stunning duet with him, called Psychedelic Blues, that makes the hairs rise on the back of the neck.
The opening track, Dearly Beloved, is reminiscent of the Rocky Horror soundtrack, all weird and wonderful with a distinctive funky beat.
It is followed by Rhythm In The Walk which is a pure dance track, and then on to Secret Pleasure Dream that has a primeval feel with raw rhythms and a savage back beat.
A complete change of mood comes with Head Down And He's Running as we jet off to a smoky jazz bar in New Orleans, with some pretty fine sax. Meeting In The Dessert and Strange Forms of Travel are storybook songs, the first with a recording of Berber chants mixed with some sumptuous guitar. Peter has husky, low range vocals that sit well over keyboards. His voice is inspired on the song In The Forest, which has strong pagan imagery and a mass of instruments.
Other tracks include a reggae instrumental, space age guitar and even a psychedelic feel in Nanda Devi.
