Trainer Alan King's wife Rachel edged her husband out of the spotlight when she raised funds for the local Greatwood Centre for Retired Racehorses and Naomi House Children's Hospice by walking 87 miles in four days across the Ridgeway.
Together with a friend, she undertook the trek along the Ridgeway, which runs adjacent to King's yard at Barbury Castle, and the trainer was there to meet her at the end of the walk with a bottle of champagne.
Presenting a cheque for £1,250 to Greatwood, Rachel said she survived on Mars Bars and Nurofen and added: "It was great but quite hard."
Greatwood's Michael Yeadon said: "We really appreciate the determination that resulted in all those blisters and aching limbs, and of course the cheque."
