Lambourn trainer/jockey Carl Llewellyn, who took over from Mark Pitman at Weathercock House Stables, has said he was giving serious consideration to an offer from Nigel Twiston-Davies to ride one of his horses in the Grand National.
Llewellyn, a Swindon Town fan, has been restricting himself to riding in National Hunt flat races for the past couple of seasons and has to ponder whether he would be fit enough for a ride in the Aintree spectacular.
He said: "Riding out doesn't keep you as fit as race riding, and it would be awful to find after three-quarters of the journey that you are knackered."
No stranger to the Aintree course, Llewellyn partnered Party Politics as well as the Twiston-Davies trained Earth Summit to victory in the National.
He said: "Nigel has been a massive part of everything I have achieved.
"Any one of Ollie Magern, Irish Raptor or Nowhere would be a great ride and it would probably be my last over fences. I will be thinking seriously about it."
