A TAKEAWAY in Swindon has been handed a new one-out-of-five food hygiene rating.
PiriCo is based in the ground floor of 103 Cricklade Road in Gorse Hill and serves up chicken, burgers and desserts.
Food hygiene inspectors from Swindon Borough Council visited the business on June 28 and the results of their inspection is now available on the Food Standards Agency website.
First, the good news - the categories of hygienic food handling and the cleanliness and condition of the facilities and building were both found to be generally satisfactory.
But on the other hand, the management of food safety let the restaurant down.
Major improvement is deemed to be necessary for this third category, which covers the system or checks in place to ensure the food served is safe to eat, the evidence to show staff know about food safety, and the food safety officer's confidence that the standards will be maintained.
This latest inspection means that of Swindon's 264 restaurants, cafes and canteens with food hygiene ratings, 210 (80 per cent) have ratings of five - the highest possible mark - and just eateries two have zero ratings.
