POLICE have urged people not to let strangers into their homes.
The warning comes days after prolific distraction burglar Shane Jarvis was jailed.
In yesterday's Advertiser Eileen Halfpenny, 81, of Saxon Close, Cricklade, told how Jarvis tried to con his way into her home for the second time while on licence from jail.
Det Con Andy Fee, who was in charge of the investigation, said: "If you have someone at your door who you are not expecting please remember to say stay out stranger' and leave them standing on your doorstep.
"Shane Jarvis is a career criminal who on day release from prison chose to abscond and commit as many crimes as he could.
"Distraction burglars target elderly and vulnerable people and leave them feeling distressed and unsafe in their own homes."
