A BURGER place in Swindon's town centre seems to have suddenly shut.

Burger Priest opened in The Crossing inside The Brunel Shopping Centre in 2019 before changing its name to The Confessional only a few months ago.

But on Friday, the counter had no staff working behind it and no customers were queueing to order or tucking into their meals.

The situation remained the same over the weekend, with its seating area noticeably empty as shoppers stopped for a bite to eat in the rest of the food court.

The reason for the abrupt closure has not been confirmed.

The Adver has approached The Confessional for comment.

At the time of opening owner Keith Fox said: “The opportunity arose to come to Swindon and it is one we didn’t want to miss.

"Preferably we like our sites to be on food courts like the set up here at The Crossing. This is because that way we are in the mix of everything.”

“We have seen a lot of interest online regarding us opening here and we want this to reflect in reality."

At the time they said they were hoping to expand further and plan to open 10 more stores over the next 18 months, totalling 12 restaurants.

There are believed to be six restaurants in the country at the moment.
