A WOMAN is fighting for her life after being knocked down by a car as she tried to cross a busy road.
The pedestrian suffered injuries following the road accident on the A4 London Road in Marlborough.
PC David Lockwood from the northern roads policing unit said: "On Thursday, at about 10.40am, a serious road traffic collision occurred on the A4 London Road at the zebra crossing near to St Margaret's Mead.
"A local female 45-year-old pedestrian was about to cross on the crossing when she was struck by a blue Vauxhall Corsa driven by a local man. The female, as a result of the collision, has received life-threatening injuries and is in intensive case at hospital."
Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision to come forward. Anyone with any information should contact PC Lockwood on 0845 408 7000.
