A man was seriously injured this morning after leaping out of the window of a flat to escape a knifeman.
It is understood the man suffered a serious leg injury during the incident in which two men forced entry into a property in Manvers Street in Trowbridge.
One of men had a knife and is understood to have threatened the occupants of the flat after kicking in the door.
The door to the property is in Fore Street next to F1rst Move estate agents but the flat is above F1rst Move's premises in Manvers Street.
Steve Tarrent, lettings manager with F1rst Move, said: "We didn't hear or see anything and we don't let the flat above.
"We are in the process of vacating that shop and relocating to other premises, so there was no-one there."
The victim is understood to have managed to escape as far as Trowbridge Town Park opposite the police station before collapsing in pain.
An ambulance and police were called to the scene.
The two men had earlier been seen in British Row, Trowbridge, at 9.20am today (18/08).
One of the suspects, who was carrying a knife, is described as a white male, about 6ft tall and has a slim build. He has dark hair.
They were both wearing dark clothing.
They are not thought to pose an ongoing threat to the wider community but members of the public are advised not to approach them.
Officers swarmed the town centre this morning trying to find the two suspects.
They sent up the police helicopter, which was seen circling the town centre shortly after 9.30am.
If you have any information about their whereabouts call 999 as a matter of urgency quoting log 73 of today’s date.
