Three vehicles have crashed on the A420 and a section of the road is now closed in both directions as emergency services warn of "significant traffic disruption".
The A420 is closed between the junction of Park Road and Great Coxwell and police say it is likely to be closed until 6pm.
Traffic is slow and building due to the accident which took place near Faringdon.
Emergency services are at the scene where traffic is at a standstill.
The location of the crash is between the A420 junctions with Fernham Road and Park Road.
An Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Please expect significant traffic disruption in the area and plan to use an alternative route."
The A420 runs between Swindon and Oxford.
The closure was affecting traffic heading into Faringdon.
