GREAT great great gran Dot has a simple philosophy on how people can make it until 103 - you've just got to wait.
Dorothy Trinder, who turned 103 on Saturday, says this philosophy - and drinking tea without any sugar - are two good reasons why she has kept so fit through the years.
Sitting in front of about 30 birthday cards, and flanked by her loving daughter and granddaughter, she also said she is very proud of her five-generation family.
She was born in the year Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen discovered the magnetic north pole and Albert Einstein published his theory of relativity.
And although she says the world is a very different place now, she still enjoys modern pleasures including TV show Deal Or No Deal and Vegemite and cheese sandwiches.
Mrs Trinder spent most of her life in Southhampton Street, Swindon, but now lives in Blackman Gardens, Old Town.
Her daughter, Jean Riggall, 75, says her mum is an amazing lady.
She said: "She is a very special and wonderful lady, she never complains about anything.
"She never takes any tablets, except one paracetamol before bed to help her sleep. She comes from a long line of healthy relatives, hopefully I have the same genes as they do. My mum has many relatives which include one daughter, three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and eight great great grandchildren."
