Dogs have a habit of finding all sorts of things while out on a walk, but one Swindon dog owner got more than she bargained for when she discovered what her pet's new toy really was.
Gina Penman Dearing, from Rodbourne, was walking her two dogs Siggy and Billie at lunchtime on Monday, August 22, when the 6-month-old Siggy discovered something that had been discarded at the back of the Churchward estate.
The proud pooch returned to Gina with her new toy which was when the Vets Kitchen worker noticed exactly what was in Siggy's mouth - a rubber sex toy.
Gina said: "I was walking to Mannington via the route at the back of Padstowe Road. I was just walking home from my job for lunch.
"Siggy disappeared up the slopes that back onto the flats and reappeared with the 'thing'!! I think someone had probably chucked it out their window there
"I was thinking 'what the hell has she got now' and then I realised what it was and I couldn't believe it."
Gina has shared pictures of the object in Siggy's mouth, as well as a video of the dog having a great time running away from her owner as she desperately tried to retrieve it.
"I tried to get it off her without physically touching it but she was having a whale of a time."
Thankfully, Gina was able to get away with not having to handle the sex toy as Siggy ran off and then reappeared without it.
Finding the situation amusing, Gina posted about it on Facebook after the walk.
"Thanks to whoever decided to fling this outside on the alleyway from the back of the Churchward estate my puppy enjoyed playing with it," she wrote.
Her post garnered a lot of comments from amused locals, many of which tagged people accused of having owned the object in question, and some showed concern for Gina at having to 'handle' the situation.
"I'm really concerned some kid will find it and take it home to their Mum," she said in response to one them.
"But in a further update posted on Tuesday morning after another dog walk, Gina discovered that Siggy had returned with the same, now favourite, toy, presumably after having hidden it for safe-keeping the day before.
"Thankfully I got it off her (not touching it) and it's safely in the bin. The one at the bottom of Redcliffe Street for those strange ones asking."
