EASTENDERS and Extras star Shaun Williamson has been unveiled as the star of this year's Wyvern panto.
The former soap star takes on the role of Abanazar in this year's Christmas show Aladdin.
Tickets for the show are already selling at record levels, but now the theatre has announced Shaun will star in this year's show, organisers are hopeful tickets will sell even faster.
Michael Harrison, the managing director of the Qdos Pantomimes, which is staging the show, said: "We are delighted to be working with the Wyvern Theatre on this fabulous production of Aladdin."
Shaun Williamson shot to fame for his role as the hapless Barry in EastEnders.
He is also well known as a singer and appeared on Celebrity Stars In Their Eyes as Meat Loaf.
He also fronts a ten-piece band and has toured the country with all kinds of shows, including Saturday Night Fever and The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
His most recent high-profile TV appearance was when he played himself in both series of Ricky Gervais's sitcom Extras. He also had a major role in the show's recent Christmas special.
But it won't just be Shaun's appearance that will be dazzling the audience at this year's panto.
The special effects will bring Swindon's first ever 3-D genie to the stage.
Using technology called Bogglevision the panto audience will watch in wonder as the genie of the story comes to life and moves around the theatre.
Other effects will include a 3-D tour around Aladdin's cave and a ride on a magic carpet.
Mr Harrison added: "As the most prolific producer of Christmas shows in the UK Qdos is able to present a talented cast, first rate set, stunning costumes and the 3-D that has wowed audiences in other shows we have used the effects.
"The special effects add another dimension to the audience's experience and enjoyment."
The pantomime will run from December 5 to January 4 next year.
