PIRATES rubbed shoulders with children at an ocean-themed activity week.
Youngsters from across the town descended on Swindon Evangelical Church on Devizes Road for a fun-filled taste of life on the ocean wave.
The event was organised by Rosemary Foster of the church and attracted 56 children between the ages of five and 11.
"The children took part in making crafts such as ships and lighthouses, sang songs and heard bible stories about the Apostle Paul and his journey," she said.
"We also had some food craft where children made cakes in the shapes of lighthouses and treasure chests.
"We had around thirty volunteers helping out.
"The kids were really impressed and had a brilliant time. Everyone really enjoyed themselves.
"We also had a pirate who some of the younger children were scared of at first.
"But then once they realised he was harmless they really began enjoying themselves.
"They were even able to take home things, which was nice."
