The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms affecting much of the UK, including Swindon for tonight, September 4.
It will come into place from 8pm and it will end at 4 am on Monday.
Regions that are also affected by the weather warning include Cornwall and West Wales.
The Met Office says that there is a good chance that driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water, locally gusty winds and/or hail, leading to longer journey times by car and bus.
Delays to train services could also be expected.
Other things that could happen as a result of the thunderstorms are as follows.
- Structures from lightning strikes and gusty winds.
- Some flooding of a few homes and businesses possible, leading to some damage to buildings or structures
- Some short-term loss of power and other services is possible
