A host of changes are proposed around the town. Here are the latest public notices issued by Swindon Borough Council.

UPPER STRATTON: Notice is hereby given that Swindon Borough Council, in exercise of its powers under Section 23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, intends to introduce a zebra crossing on Meadowcroft, between Davenwood and Snowdon Place.

The site was assessed as part of the Annual Pedestrian Crossing Review 2020/21 and was identified as a site that would benefit from improved pedestrian crossing facility provisions, predominantly due to the collision history, high volume of vulnerable road users and the resultant level of conflict with the volume of passing motor traffic.

Note - 'Zig Zag' markings will be installed at either side of the crossing, as shown on the Public Notice Plan, which will prohibit stopping on the approaches and exits to the crossing.

A plan showing the location of the crossing may be inspected online at www.swindon.gov.uk/trafficregulationorders

Representations to the proposed crossing should be made by completing the consultation form which can be found at www.swindon.gov.uk/trafficregulationorders under 'Stage 7 - Road Humps and Pedestrian Crossings by no later than September 23 2022.

Any representation received will form part of a public record which may be made publicly available.

EAST WICHEL: A new traffic order will continue the existing experimental order (as modified) which came into force on March 7 2021 to designate a section of Staldon Road as a school street.

Vehicles are prohibited to enter and proceed on Staldon Road from its junction with Trevello Road for a distance of 75 metres in either direction as indicated by signs except for permit holders and exempted vehicles during Monday to Friday 8.15am to 9am and 2.45pm to 3.30pm.

The order documents can be viewed online on www.swindon.gov.uk/trafficregulationorders or the council's One Stop Shop.

The order comes into operation on September 8 2022.

If you wish to question the validity of the Order, or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or on the grounds that any requirements of that act or of any instrument made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the order, you may apply to the High Court for this purpose.

PARK SOUTH: Notice is hereby given that Swindon Borough Council intends to dispose of 104 square metres of land deemed to be public open space adjacent to 12 Kirby Close.

ALDBOURNE: Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council intends to make orders to close temporarily to all traffic part of Southward Lane, from its property known as Southward Lane Farmhouse for a distance of approximately 100m in a southerly direction.
