NOT every event has been cancelled at short notice by the Queen's death.

The Heritage Open Days planned for this weekend are still going ahead.

The Railway Village Museum will be open from 11am to 3pm on both days, with volunteers doing free village tours - book a place by emailing katie@mechanics-trust.org.uk

The Mechanics Institution Trust is hosting a Heritage Festival in Emlyn Square, also from 11am to 3pm, with live music, dance performances, exhibitions, talks and tours, and stalls by local authors and artists today. Then there will be more talks, tours, exhibitions and refreshments tomorrow.

Today, Historic England's huge archive of photographs will be available to view and have guided tours around from 10am to 3pm - book at www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/396426250587

Shed 11 of the former carriage works has been converted into an institute for the teaching and research of cultural heritage - have a look around today with no booking required, pop into the Health Hydro and Pattern Church for tours every half hour before 4pm, or visit the rest of the Carriage Works between 11am and 2pm today and tomorrow to see how that has been revamped.

There will be plenty more events celebrating Swindon's historic buildings - read more here or visit www.heritageopendays.org.uk/visiting/printable-area-lists/town/Swindon
