On Thursday September 8th, my house in Wiltshire was struck by lightning.

There was nobody inside the house in Hullavington at the time, but a neighbour described it as "like a blowtorch being shot across the house".

Multiple appliances including televisions and computers have been left destroyed with the strike even causing a disperse of debris surrounding where the appliances stood.

Plug sockets had been blown out of the wall and the internet is unreachable, which other members of the village also experienced due to the storm.

The scorch marks that can be seen across the chimney and through the insulation within the house prove how easily house fires can be caused by such natural disasters.

The village of Hullavington was disrupted by multiple lightning strikes on Thursday evening.

Multiple homes were hit including the village hall. Thankfully, no fires were caused and there were no injuries.

If you are in the situation where your house has been struck by lightning, always alert fire services due to possible fires in unseen areas such as the loft spaces within homes.

In addition, alert an electrician for a full check of household appliances, as fires can be caused days later due to the damage of electrical appliances.
