A huge warehouse being built in Dorcan is nearly complete – on the outside at least.
But while the inside of the second phase of the warehouse development on Faraday Road in the Dorcan industrial estate still needs a lot of work, the developers want to make some minor changes.
Workers are still using several cherry picker cranes to put the insulation material in the roof of the warehouse which measures 17,463 square metres.
And the inside is still largely unfinished, with bales of insulating material on the floor visible through open doorways, although there will not be much to do inside. Most of the huge building will simply be open warehousing space, with staff toilets and an entrance lobby on the ground floor. Offices on two mezzanine floors along one wall will be installed in the upper storeys of the building.
The warehouse dwarves the three much smaller buildings on the site which was cleared of the former Woolworth distribution centre which operated there until 20009; it covers the entire eastern half of the site.
The developer Canmoor Swindon Sarl based in Luxembourg has asked for permission for several minor changes to the original agreed plans moving the staff entrance and adjusting the layout and placement of the cycle racks and bin areas.
