The latest cases before Swindon Magistrates' Court include a man who assaulted a woman and a driver high on cocaine and cannabis.
SWINDON: Jamie Malcolm Jeffcoate was given a community order after he admitted assaulting a woman. The 35-year-old, of Blackfriars Way, Salisbury, admitted one count of assault by beating. The attack took place in Swindon on December 14, 2021. Magistrates imposed a two-year community order, which will include 29 sessions of the building better relationships programme, 20 rehabilitation activity days and 100 hours of unpaid work. He must also pay costs of £85 and a £95 victim surcharge.
WROUGHTON: Clifford John Curtis has had more than £400 of court fines written off. The 41-year-old, of Cowleaze Crescent, had not paid £505.43 in court fines imposed in May 2020. Magistrates remitted £439.43 of his balance in his absence on Monday (September 12), “owing to a change of circumstances”, court documents show. The remaining amount he must pay is £66, which is compensation.
TOWN CENTRE: Jordan Michael Fraser Davis has been banned from the roads after he was high whilst driving. The 25-year-old, of Whitehead Street, was behind the wheel of a Peugeot 206 on Thamesdown Drive on September 19, 2021, when he caught with an excess level of Benzoylecgonine and THC, breakdown products of cocaine and cannabis respectively, in his system. He was fined £400, ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £40 victim surcharge. Further, magistrates banned him from driving for a year.
PINEHURST: A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Johnny Farley. The 25-year-old, of Pinehurst Road, was due to appear in court on Monday (September 12) charged with failing to comply with the requirements of a community order imposed by magistrates on November 2, 2021. It is alleged that the defendant failed to attend unpaid work appointments on July 24 and 31, and failed to provide evidence of a reasonable excuse. But court documents show a warrant was issued for his arrest after he failed to attend the hearing.
TOWN CENTRE: Katrine Michelle Thomas has been ordered to pay compensation after she stole from a supermarket. The 30-year-old, from Sheppard Street, took various items valued at £78 from Wilko in Swindon on May 23. Admitting the offence, she was ordered to pay £78 in compensation.
TOOTHILL: A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Paul James Henley. The 33-year-old, of Icomb Close, was due to appear in court on Monday (September 12) charged with failing to comply with the requirements of a community order imposed by magistrates on May 6, 2021. It is alleged that the defendant failed to attend planned office appointments on June 30 and August 4, and failed to provide evidence of a reasonable excuse. But court documents show a warrant was issued for his arrest after he failed to attend the hearing.
LIDEN: Daniel McCabe will face a trial next year accused of causing a man actual bodily harm. The 51-year-old, of Liden Drive, is accused of assault occasioning actual bodily harm of the man in Swindon. The attack allegedly happened on October 8, 2020. Previously, McCabe pleaded not guilty and elected a trial by magistrates. He was released on unconditional bail and will appear at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on March 16, 2023 for the trial.
EASTLEAZE: A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Lewis Norman Baker. The 21-year-old, of Stonefield Close, was due to appear in court on Monday (September 12) charged with failing to comply with the requirements of a community order imposed by magistrates on February 9. It is alleged the defendant failed to attend office appointments on July 20 and 27, and did not provide evidence of a reasonable excuse. But court documents show a warrant was issued for his arrest after he failed to attend the hearing.
