Queen Elizabeth II's funeral will take place on Monday, September 19 as Wiltshire gathers to pay their respects to the late monarch. 

The Queen passed away peacefully, aged 96, Buckingham Palace confirmed in a statement with the state funeral taking place 10 days afterwards.

King Charles III was formally declared King during a historic Accession Ceremony just days after where he decreed that the sad day would be marked with a bank holiday.

Many supermarkets, shops and entertainment venues will close, there are some places that have opted to show a live broadcast of the funeral across Wiltshire.


What to expect from the Queen's funeral 


Where can I watch the Queen’s funeral? 

Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral will be shown at the Vue Cinema in Newbury but at the time of writing, the viewing was entirely sold out.

Seats for the screening could be booked on the Vue’s website and will broadcast live at 10 am, with an expected runtime of 5 hours. 

On the booking page of the cinema’s website, it states: “We will be screening the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, in selected UK venues.”

The seats are free of charge but the food and drink options will be limited to complimentary bottles of water during the broadcast. 

They added: “On this day we will not be showing our normal programme of films.” 

The Parade Cinema in Malborough will be showing the funeral service on Monday and you can find out more via its website.

Other major cinema chains like Cineworld and Odeon will not be showing the funeral in the county, as they will be shut.

However, there are other ways that you will be able to watch the solemn event.

The UK’s biggest pub group Stonegate, which owns Walkabout and Slug & Lettuce, has said it plans to keep venues open next Monday and show footage of the Queen’s funeral.

A spokeswoman for Stonegate Group said: “The passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is a momentous and sombre occasion.

“We send our deepest condolences to the royal family at this sad time.

“Our managed pubs, bars and venues remain open and, where possible, will show the funeral on Monday, September 19 to honour her life and service.

“Across our leased and tenanted estate, our pub partners will make an independent decision applicable to their business and community.

While Oxfordshire County Council and Oxford City Council have not confirmed any official screenings, there are other ways you can pay your respects.

Yes, the Queen’s funeral will be broadcast live on BBC One, BBC News, and be available on BBC iPlayer. 

It will also be shown on Sky News and can be watched on their TV and YouTube Channels. 

When is the Queen’s funeral? 

The Queen’s funeral will take place on Monday, September 19, with duties beginning at 6:30 am, and the BBC coverage of the event starting at 8 am. 

The Service at Westminster Abbey will take place at 11 am while a later committal service at St George’s Chapel will also be broadcast.
