Wiltshire Police's social media channels are usually full of updates, appeals and community engagement.

But the force has gone radio silent, and it's not because all crime has been suddenly solved.

The last posts posted on the Wiltshire Police and Swindon Police Facebook and Twitter pages were on September 8 - a statement from Chief Constable Sir Kier Pritchard on the Queen's death - and nothing else has been posted since.

The Twitter pages for Wiltshire Specialist Ops, which covers armed response and road policing, and Wiltshire Police Dogs have also been devoid of any new posts since the death of Her Majesty.

For anyone wondering why this is, Wiltshire Police said it was observing the period of mourning so had, in line with NPCC guidance, 'paused' its communications.

A spokesperson said: "We are pausing all but operationally critical comms on our social media feeds during the period of mourning. However, we will still continue to issue press releases and respond to enquiries in the normal way."

Police have continued to work throughout this time, and it is only the comms that have 'paused'

The spokesperson confirmed that normal social media posts will resume once the mourning period is over.
