FLEMING Way is being demolished and rebuilt over the next two years - so one history fan has preserved its old image forever in tribute.
The busy town centre road is now closed while work is carried out on a major redevelopment scheme which will lower it to the level of the Parade's shops and add an improved bus interchange.
This is the biggest change to the route since it was first constructed in 1967. When it reopens in autumn 2024, Fleming Way will have undergone a £33 million transformation.
A new YouTube video entitled 'Goodbye Fleming Way' shows Mark Keen wandering up and down the road and it's nearby surroundings, such as the underpass near H&M and the steps leading to Newbridge Square.
The footage was filmed on the first day that Fleming Way closed to buses and most other traffic, earlier this month, and has received positive feedback from appreciative viewers.
One commenter said: "Always sad to see a piece of history disappear."
Another added: "It may not be the prettiest thing in Swindon, but it's been around for a while."
One viewer called the road "beautiful".
