DRAMATIC new pictures of the old TK Maxx shop on Great Western Way show its interior has been completely gutted.

The popular retailer moved to a space once occupied by John Lewis at Home in Mannington Retail Park during the summer.

Since then, work has been carried out on changing its former home into a new shop.

Last year, the company which owns Home Bargains submitted plans for a 'comprehensive refurbishment' of the large unit on Great Western Way which would include new cladding, an external display area, a new customer entrance/exit lobby, alterations to the car park and a cafe space.

TJ Morris' plans have been approved, as have two more applications submitted in February and May this year which proposed minor tweaks to the site layout and minor external alterations to the unit, mainly the removal of a mezzanine.

Now, that mezzanine has been well and truly removed, as have most of the walls and windows around the unit.

Only the pillars holding the roof up remain at the moment. The car park is full of debris and has been closed off to the public.

An end date for the renovation work is not yet known.
