A Tribute to Queen Elizabeth II
Come rain or shine,
The Queen still smiled
Her walkabouts became
A freshly walked Royal Mile.
Meeting the People
So well-informed
Questions, observations
Her reception so warm.
Her knowledge of horses
Was world-renowned
She visited the best racecourses
To see horse and jockey crowned.
She travelled the globe
In comfort and style
Pomp, ceremony and robes
Worn every once in a while.
Fifteen Prime Ministers listened
To well-informed, sage advice
She’d weathered world storms
Throughout her long life.
For 96 wonderful years
She graced the World stage
Faithful to her duty
Throughout all her days.
Kings, Presidents and Chiefs
Came to her banqueting hall
She was quietly ceremonious
Politely receiving them all.
Queen Elizabeth’s deep faith
In God, her King
In Christmas broadcasts
His praises she’d sing.
Defender of the Faith
The solemn title she bore
How we wished she would live
To One Hundred and more!
As we mourn our Queen
With a deep sense of loss
We observed her example
Of true leadership’s cost.
A life dedicated to service
Of the people she loved
The royal handshake extended
Her delicate hand in glove.
Physical stature? Small
But a GIANT on the World Stage!
She answered the call
Her part was well-played!
What more could we want
From our diplomatic Queen
The most photographed woman
All over the world was seen.
The Queen committed her life
Laid aside personal choice
To give daily sacrifice
And be the Monarchy’s voice.
How do you capture
The essence of her life?
A Mother, Grandmother?
There was sometimes strife!
Her epitaph may be
“Gracious service freely given”
Our Queen surpassed her duty
The most exemplary woman!
And while billions mourn
With heartfelt tears
I’m so grateful I’ve lived
My whole life in her years.
They speak of the twinkle
That lit up her eyes
The abiding peace within
Gracious countenance - so wise.
A constant presence
Faithful, guiding light
To the nation she led
She’s said her last Goodnight!

Tears for our Queen
We shed our tears
For many reasons
In joy and laughter also in sorrow and grief
The birth of our first born child
Their first steps in their life
As they leave to start /their own way in life
In the birth of our first grandchild
In laughter with the punch line of a joke
But we also shed tears in grief and sorrow
As a child the loss off a parent
But none more as a parent of a child
And that faithful companion
Our pet that has helped us through those times of sorrow
But today as a nation we shed our tears
For our Queen who was our mother, grandmother to our nation
Whose love for her people was never faulting
But with time the tears of sorrow will fade
But those of laughter and joy will always remain with us
