The driver of a car involved in a crash on a major Wiltshire road has died, police have confirmed.
A BMW and a Mercedes travelling in opposite directions on the A30 were involved in the incident in the village of Pitton, near the junction with Whiteway, at around 11.30am on Thursday.
A statement from Wiltshire Police said: "The driver of the BMW sustained significant injuries and was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital where he sadly died.
"There were two other people in the vehicle at the time, but they were not injured. The driver of the Mercedes was also not injured. Both vehicles sustained significant damage.
"We believe a number of drivers may have witnessed the collision who have not yet spoken to police. We would like to speak to these people and also ascertain if they have dash cam footage which could help."
Any witnesses to the collision should call 101 and quote log number 113 of September 15.
