New roadworks which started recently have caused large amounts of traffic queues.
Stirling Road, the entrance to South Marston Industrial Estate, was closed due to new ongoing roadworks that started on September 20 and will last until November 4.
The Streetworks website lists the reason for the works as 'Section 50 work for new Persimmons site.'
To manage this, three-way traffic lights have been set up on the nearby Vickers Roundabout, a busy route through South Marston.
As a result, extensive delays have been caused for commuters travelling in the area on Tuesday morning with Highworth Road in all directions and Kingsdown Road seeing a build-up of queueing cars.
The A419 is also seeing delays at the exit junction near the Rat Trap pub section of Highworth Road.
Stagecoach West has also reported via a post on Twitter that its services that run in the area, namely Service 7, are also being affected as traffic grows.
It said: "Service 7, Due to roadworks in South Marston, some buses are running 15-20 minutes late, please check the app for updates, sorry for any inconvenience."
The bus company would go on to reiterate the delays in a further tweet, this time citing heavy traffic on Highworth Road specifically.
