A walk-in COVID-19 vaccination clinic is running today.

Anyone over the age of 12 and over is encouraged to attend and autumn boosters are available for those who are eligible.

As with previous booster vaccination campaigns, those most at risk will be called forward first, with people able to book in online or through 119 as long as it has been three months since their last dose.

Currently, this includes people aged 75 and over, the severely immunosuppressed, and frontline health and care workers.

Those eligible for an autumn booster over the coming weeks include those over 50, those with a weakened immune system and housebound people and pregnant women, in line with guidance set out by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI).

Coronavirus continues to remain prevalent in Swindon with 300 active cases at the moment.

Compared to other areas of the South West, Swindon ranks third for COVID-19 cases, with 1 in 740 ill. The only towns with a higher percentage of cases are Dorset and North Somerset.

From this month, the NHS is also rolling out this year’s flu vaccine, with eligible people able to get their flu and COVID-19 jab at the same time depending on local arrangements.

Vaccinations are being offered until 5.45pm at Sanford House, Sanford Street, SN1 1HE in the town centre.
