A PERSON has been left with serious injuries after an incident in Cirencester on Sunday evening (September 18).

The person had been working on a vehicle inside a garage when the vehicle ignited.

Two fire engines, two ambulance crews, and police attended the incident in Ermin Place at around 6pm.

The patient was later taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol by air ambulance.

Edward Prewett, 36, who lives nearby witnessed the fire and said the smoke was ‘billowing’ out.

"It happened at the top of Ermin Place, I live near the bottom,” he said.

"There were ambulances, police, fire and they were there for several hours.

"It was a bit alarming, to suddenly see black smoke.

“We are not used to much happening up here.

"When I got up there there was someone sitting on the lawn with a medic and some other people.

"Apparently a man was in the garage when the fire started.

“I think the emergency services did their job well.
