Stratton St Margaret Parish Council - in cooperation with Swindon Borough Council - will be starting a weekly community cafe this month.
The grand opening is on September 30 and members of the public will be able to enjoy a weekly community cafe group every Friday from 10am to 12pm at the Meadowcroft Community Centre.
A spokesman for the council said: "Chat with your neighbours and housing officers over a cup of tea, coffee and biscuits, and take home surplus food from local supermarkets."
The initiative is also being supported by SBC Housing, Street Reps and Fairshare.
This comes alongside several other community initiatives in Stratton this past month such as Stratton Community Fete on 10th September and the Beechcroft Library Food Bank Collection Service.
