A home delivery service for books from the local library has started in Stratton.
The community initiative is designed for residents who can't access the library and don't have anyone to go with them.
Friends of Beechcroft Library and Stratton St Margaret Parish Council have teamed up to bring this unique service to the area for those who may be recovering from a long illness or a hospital stay as well as people who have a longer-term requirement.
Six books and audiobooks will be picked out by volunteers from the community based on the recipient's preferences and they will be delivered every three weeks.
Those interested fill out an application form where they indicate their favourite genres and authors.
As part of the scheme, a volunteer will select the books and deliver them to the door.
Volunteers are DBS checked and will wear identification badges. The aim is that the same person will deliver the book every time/
There are no charges for requests or late returns and specific books can be requested but there may be a waiting list for the more popular ones.
Anyone who thinks they would benefit from the new scheme should call Beechcroft Library on 01793 680030 or email beechcroft.library@strattonstmargaret.gov.uk.
