Great Western Hospital has revised its rules around mask-wearing - just two weeks after they were relaxed.
The hospital trust says Covid admissions to GWH are on the rise again so masks have been reintroduced.
Patients and visitors must wear masks in all clinical areas at the hospital and in the hospital trust's GP practices at Moredon and Abbey Meads.
While they are not required in corridors or non-clinical spaces, people can choose to wear a mask at all times if they wish.
GWH announced on September 7 that face coverings would no longer be needed in most areas of the hospital nor in the GP practices.
But the trust warned the Covid position would be kept under "regular review" and that "some safety measures" may need to be introduced.
Data shows that 16 patients were in hospital in Swindon with Covid on Wednesday.
The highest number of patients in hospital with the virus since the rules were last relaxed two weeks ago was on September 12 when there were 23 cases.
The day before face covering rules were removed on September 9, the hospital was caring for 19 patients with Covid.
GWH says masks are available at the entrance to the hospital site for people who arrive without one.
