A MULTICULTURAL fun day is being held at a Swindon school on Saturday to help those affected by flooding in Pakistan.

Drove Primary School will be full of food and clothes stalls, children's activities, henna tattoos, and face painting fun from 2pm to 6pm on September 24.

The organisers thanked the school's headteacher Dr Nick Capstick OBE for allowing them to use the building for this event and for providing a lot of support.

The fun day has been in the planning for weeks and was supposed to be held last Saturday, but it was then rescheduled out of respect for the Queen.

Pakistan has been hit by its worst floods in years which were caused by torrential monsoon rains washing away villages and affecting more than 33 million people, with one in seven homes lost.

Unicef says around 3.4 million children are in need of assistance and at increased risk of waterborne diseases, drowning, and malnutrition following the flooding.

Hundreds of thousands of homes have been damaged or destroyed, while many public health facilities, water systems, and schools have been destroyed or damaged.

Swindon Town FC is among the local groups who have donated aid to the country during its time of need.
