POLICE arrested a suspect for supplying class A drugs and had a closure order approved for a house in the Swindon area.

Officers from Wiltshire Police's Fortitude team visited an address on Coronation Road in Wroughton last week after receiving reports of suspicious behaviour between two men near the property.

The team, which is tasked with dealing with serious and prolific offenders, arrested one of the two men on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a class A drug and possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

He has since been released under investigation.

Swindon Magistrates Court granted a closure order for the address which means nobody other than the registered occupants and those named on the order can enter the address for the next three months.

Swindon Advertiser:

Anyone else who is found to be visiting the property could face immediate arrest.

The order is now in place to prevent anti-social behaviour at the property and to safeguard the people who live there.

Det Insp Sarah Champion, from the Fortitude Team, said: “Our team takes drug dealing very seriously and will do all we can to protect the community.

“Hopefully this closure order will bring some much-needed respite to the residents in Wroughton who are often affected by the anti-social behaviour and ongoing issues associated with the address.

"Officers will continue to patrol the area to ensure the order is being adhered to.

“If you have any concerns that someone you know is being cuckooed or an address is being used for criminal activity then please report this to the police.

"We use this community intelligence as a key tool in targeting drug dealers, ensuring they are arrested and drugs seized, tackling anti-social behaviour and safeguarding the vulnerable.”

Earlier this year, the police received approval from the courts for other closure orders to prevent criminal and antisocial behaviour.

Land known as the Old Pumphouse, next to Lainesmead Primary School in Walcot, received a partial closure order after police found uncapped needles there and received reports of criminal damage.

Vehicles speeding, racing, making loud noises and causing criminal damage at large car meets led to closure order being slapped on part of the car park at Sainsbury’s and B&M at Bridgemead.
