Highworth Community Speedwatch says they are disappointed with Swindon Borough Council after an experimental traffic order failed to come into place.
On Monday, September 19, Swindon Borough Council introduced changes along the A361 Swindon Road near Highworth which would change the speed limit near the town from 40 mph down to 30 mph.
Highworth CSW pushed for the changes following a huge number of drivers speeding dangerously near the town.
Back in July over 240 drivers were caught speeding through Highworth during the Royal International Air Tattoo weekend.
However, after successfully pushing Swindon Borough Council to address the speeding issue, action has been paused.
The road signs have not been changed meaning the speed limit is still 40 mph.
Now the council has explained the reasons behind the delay.
A spokesperson for the council said: “Due to resource issues, the contractor for the scheme postponed the work at very short notice.
“We will provide an update when a new start date has been confirmed.
“The scheme will be monitored during the 18-month trial period to assess the impact and whether additional traffic features are needed.”
