THE Mayor of Swindon thanked community volunteers who have dedicated their spare time to helping those in need.
Coun Abdul Amin visited a tea party event organised by Swindon Borough Council’s Live Well team at the Foundation Park near the County Ground.
He said: "It’s been a great pleasure chatting to some of the volunteers from Forget Me Not Cakes and Swindon Big Knit.
"I looked at some of the fantastic garments knitted by our wonderful volunteers which are donated to the neediest people in Swindon, including some of the charitable organisations such as Threshold.
"These amazing hand-knitted garments will certainly benefit many people throughout the coming winter months.
"I also had the privilege to taste beautiful cakes baked by our wonderful volunteers of Swindon Big Knit who donate them to the most vulnerable and elderly people of our borough to celebrate occasions such as birthdays.
"I am really pleased to see the council's excellent work with our most vulnerable people, I very much appreciated the work of the Live Well team, and I look forward to seeing more of their progress in the coming years.
"This team has been involved in aiding the people of Swindon for many years now through various creative methods."
