Volunteers are being called on to help out at Julia's House children's hospice high street shops around the county, including a brand new store.
The organisation looks after the most seriously ill children and their families in their homes and at the charity’s hospice building in Devizes.
It relies almost entirely on donations to provide its vital care, so the funds raised by its shops make a huge difference. And it’s only thanks to the charity’s team of volunteers that the doors can stay open and welcome shoppers regularly throughout the week.
Helping hands are needed on the tills and behind the scenes, sorting donations in many of the shops, including Chippenham, Devizes, Salisbury, and a new shop opening in Market Place in Warminster later this month.
Volunteer co-ordinator Anneka Grayson said, “We’re lucky to have an incredible team of volunteers of all ages, and we’re looking for more people to join us. Volunteering has lots of benefits, from building confidence and gaining work experience, to making friends and having fun.
"It’s also a great feeling to be supporting your local community and will make all the difference to the seriously ill children and families we care for locally.”
She added, “There are lots of volunteering roles and new ones coming up all the time, so we’d love to hear from anyone who has a few hours to spare. And you don’t have to have experience to be a volunteer at Julia’s House, as we provide all the training you’ll require.”
