STRIKE action at train stations around the country has reduced the number of journeys available for passengers to book today.

Railway workers have walked out and held demonstrations today as part of a dispute over pay and working conditions.

Services have been cut to a reduced timetable due to the lack of staff.

As a general rule of thumb, anyone hoping to arrive in Swindon by train today should book a journey before 6pm.

For example, the last train from London Paddington will leave the capital at 5.32pm and arrive in Swindon at 6.26pm.

Passengers heading home from Oxford should hop on the 5.36pm service which will arrive here at 6.26pm after one chnage.

The last direct route from Bristol Temple Meads leaves at 5.16pm and reaches Swindon at 5.55pm. The next service leaves Bristol at 5.35pm and, after passengers make one change mid-route, they will get to Swindon at 6.19pm.

Similar services are running for journeys away from Swindon. The last direct route to London Paddington leaves at 5.23pm, with one other service departing at 5.57pm which requires a change mid-route and takes twice as long.

The last direct journey to Bristol Temple Meads leaves Swindon at 5.33pm. Other departures at 5.30pm and 6.13pm will require one change and longer travel times.

The last train to Oxford leaves here at 5.57pm.
