PLANS for the first phase of a major housing development will be on show later this month.

A public exhibition of a 134-home estate, which includes 31 affordable houses, called Skylark at The Woodlands will be held at South Marston Village Hall from 3pm to 7pm on Friday October 14.

Taylor Wimpey is working with other developers to deliver the development and associated infrastructure for 2,380 homes that have received outline planning permission.

Eventually, there will be 8,000 properties along with schools, employment spaces, and community and leisure facilities added to the borough's outskirts as part of what has been known as the New Eastern Villages scheme.

Taylor Wimpey Oxfordshire's land director John Gantlett said: “The Woodlands is a significant development for the local area that has been in the planning stages for some time, and we are delighted to be able to show our detailed designs for the first phase of new homes.

“The Woodlands will be the first of a series of phases that will bring much-needed high quality, energy efficient homes to the local market. We are excited to hear people’s views on our first phase as we develop our proposals.”
