A local non-profit is organising a well-being event after the rates of breast cancer are increasing.
As October is National Cancer Awareness Month, a local non-profit organisation called Changing Suits is hosting Health and Wellbeing Event to raise awareness of Breast Cancer within the South Asian community.
The event takes places on Sunday 9th October at 11am-3pm at the Punjabi Community Centre (entry via Cricklade Road, SN2 7BB).
Taj, from Changing Suits, said: "The rates of breast cancer are increasing within the South Asian community, but with fewer people going to get diagnosed and treated, outcomes are becoming increasingly worrying."
The event will be hosted by Changing Suits, a non-profit organisation addressing the inequalities and cultural barriers for the South Asian community, and Consultant Oncoplastic and Cosmetic Breast Surgeon Anushka Chaudhry from the Ridgeway Hospital.
Nurses will be available on the day to book mammogram appointments for attendees.
We will also have presentations by wellbeing professionals, including exercise and nutritional experts, stalls by local service organisations and businesses, and tonnes of family entertainment!
The event will be attended by the Mayor, Cllr Abdul Amin, and other local representatives.
For further information or to book a stall at the event please contact us at info@changingsuits.org
