More information has come to light regarding an incident that resulted in middle lane hoggers being placed in handcuffs.

On Sunday morning, police arrested three people on suspicion of immigration offences on the M4.

The arrests took place at 12.30 am at the Membury Services.

Cops pulled a Citroen C4 over for careless driving, after it was spotted lane hogging in the middle lane.

The driver had no insurance as well for that matter.

Now, police have released more news, in the relation to the incident.

They have now confirmed that a man in his 30s from Swindon was arrested on suspicion of immigration offences.

Two men in their 20s from London were also taken into custody for the same offence.

They have since been released and will be dealt with the relevant authorities.

A spokesperson for Swindon Police, said: “Three people were arrested after officers stopped a vehicle on the M4 yesterday (16/10).

“Due to the nature in which a Citroen C4 was being driven, officers from our Roads Policing Unit stopped the vehicle at Membury Services shortly before 12.30am.

“Checks were conducted which showed the driver was not insured to drive the vehicle and the car was subsequently seized.

“Further enquiries were conducted and the driver – a man in his 20s from London – and two occupants – a man in his 20s also from London and a man in his 30s from Swindon, were arrested on suspicion of immigration offences.

“They were taken to custody and will be dealt with by the relevant agencies.”
