A PRIVATE hire car service based in Swindon will soon be known by another name.

V Cars has been around for the last 40 years and has grown by acquiring other brands like Abbey Taxis in Bath and Chippenham as well as Clifton Taxi Co and Streamline Taxis in Bristol.

In 2017, a private hire technology platform called Veezu snapped up V Cars to add to its network of 24 local authority licences in the UK which connects more than 8,000 drivers.

Five years on from that acquisition, the Swindon taxi company is now adopting the name of its new owners.

Veezu CEO Nathan Bowles said: "We are firmly putting the Veezu name on the map in the southwest.

"The change will help simplify our business, plus create consistency as the brand of choice for driver-partners, passengers, and business accounts.

“The re-brand expands beyond a name change. It is an opportunity for us to build on hyperlocal activities to ensure we remain at the centre of our communities across Bath, Bristol, Swindon and Chippenham."

Veezu has begun rolling out a marketing campaign called ‘smarter local rides’ as it debuts the name change, which will happen alongside the introduction of local community initiatives to residents across the southwest.
