A SWINDON pub with a quirky and historic roof has reopened under new management once again.

The Crumpled Horn closed in August after the previous landlords, who took charge in October 2020, decided to leave.

But now, it appears that the Grade 2-listed building will soon be ready to welcome customers again.

Posts on social media indicate that Ian Clark and Jane Scotjeapes are the new tenants who will be opening the pub this weekend.

Ian's son Thomas spread the word and received a good response from eager commenters.

He said: "Still some bits of work to so be done around cosmetically but the pub itself is ready, stock is in, and ready for everyone to arrive."

Ian added: "Very kind words from all your comments, I'm very humbled, thank you.

"I would not be doing this without Jane. She asked me to venture into this with her as partners and that is what I’m doing.

"She is doing the hard graft behind the scenes to get the pub up to scratch along with too many things to mention. She will be the landlady as she has the license, and run the pub as best she can.

"There will be ongoing improvements and me and Jane will do the best we can. Thank you all."

Before the previous leaseholders stepped in, the pub had closed in May 2019 and fell into disrepair, with piles of litter and overgrown weeds turning the site into an eyesore, and it became a hotspot for antisocial behaviour.

After a number of takeover bids, Admiral Taverns took it on from Star Pubs in February 2020, then found new leaseholders in October. The company then started searching for new tenants again at the end of this summer.

The Adver has approached Admiral Taverns for comment.

The House that Jack Built nursery rhyme inspired the design and roof of the Crumpled Horn, which was built in 1975 and earned a Grade 2 listing from Historic England in 2018.
