A Swindon-based veteran charity has received funding for a second year from the Veteran’s Foundation.
The news means that Voluntary Action Swindon can continue to employ their Veteran Support Navigator, Katie Linstead.
Mrs Linstead is a military wife living at Brize Norton with her family and due to her experience, she knows and understands the needs of those serving and transitioning into civvy life.
The funding will allow the charity to develop their Veteran Support Drop-in which is set to be held monthly.
Voluntary Action Swindon’s first Drop-in was held in October, and the second is scheduled to happen on Monday, November 28 at Buckhurst Community Centre.
“All veterans, their families and serving military are welcome,” said the charity in a press release.
“Come and tell us your needs, where there are gaps in provision, and what you would like to see offered locally.”
The charity has also been accepted for a Zurich Community Trust Festive Challenge project, which will help them to host a veteran Christmas Lunch.
“Please come along, have a free festive buffet lunch, mix with likeminded people, share stories, and make some new friends or catch up with old friends,” said the charity.
A Christmas themed buffet will be provided by Café Mobility and a raffle will be held with a chance to win a Christmas hamper.
To book a place at the Christmas Lunch, which will be held on Wednesday 7th December at Sanford House, in Swindon town centre, please contact Mrs Linstead on 07563251669.
