Here is a summary of the latest planning applications submitted to Wiltshire Council.
LYNEHAM: An outdoor skydive simulator has been proposed for land at Ministry of Defence Lyneham on Apollo Road.
The plans say: “The facility can be booked by individuals, small groups and for corporate events which sessions lasting between one hour and six hours depending on the number of people within the group.
“Sessions would be guided by experienced, professional instructors who ensure that participants feel comfortable during the experience.
“The proposed development will also be used by military personnel as a training tool for as part of the military special forces parachute capability.
“The facility will also be utilised for filming purposes to simulate freefall skydiving by actors/ stunt doubles.”
In addition, an office, some classrooms, and a generator building will be built alongside the simulator.
The skydiving simulator structure looks like a large open-topped cylinder and would have a base area of around 128.08sqm and a height of 7.53m
CHIPPENHAM: A fast food shop and an interior decoration shop on 67 Audley Road in Chippenham may be demolished to make way for a new two-bedroom apartment, another shop, a garage and a parking space.
The interior decorator Julie Kent Interiors and the fast-food store Shoestrings may be replaced by these developments if plans submitted by Mr Gerald Mitchell are accepted by the council.
The new development would be a two-storey building, unlike the current shops which are only one.
EASTERTON: A new three-bedroom house may be built on land to the south east of The Beeches, 2 Kings Road in Easterton.
The plans will go ahead if Mrs Anne Baldwin’s application is successful. The site area is around 400sqm. Up until 2020 the site was used as a garage and garden. The new house is to be built from red brick and a new parking space is also planned.
Several neighbours have been notified about the proposal.
MALMESBURY: A new three-bedroom home may be built on land adjacent 27 Tuners Lane, Crudwell, Malmesbury if plans from Mr Simon Boulton are accepted by the council.
The site is around 400sqm and is the garden of 27 Turners Lane.
POTTERNE: Mr and Mrs Satchell have proposed to build a new three-bedroom house on land at Whistley Road, Potterne.
The site is currently unused grassland and has an area of around 0.22 hectares. Three new parking spaces have also been applied for.
There were some concerns about the application.
One of the comments on the application, from Kerry Coleman, says she was not notified about the proposal despite her address being listed as one of the neighbours notified.
Ms Coleman added: “We need to protect our countryside. While Potterne is a big village, it is also a rural village and any land surrounding it should be left as countryside. We have already experienced huge developments in Melksham where green land has been developed on, it is important to protect the land that we have around us.”
She went on to say: “The entrance to the proposed dwelling is used as an important passing place for traffic, without this entrance (should a gate be put in place), it would be difficult for cars to pass easily.”
The consultation deadline is December 8.
